As an experienced facilitator, Austin has facilitated 100s of workshops over the last 15 years. As a designer, Austin uses a highly collaborative approach with clients and specializes in facilitating design thinking, product management, design sprints, and Agile methodologies.

Austin is a LUMA Certified Facilitator of Human-Centered Design, and at Avanade, he delivers design thinking and workshop facilitation training for Avanade’s global Experience Design community.

Austin’s writing

Work the Room is Austin’s third book and second book focused on collaboration and facilitation.

Previously, Austin wrote Collaborative Product Design (O’Reilly) and co-authored the second edition of Information Architecture: Blueprints for the web with Christina Wodtke for New Riders/Peachpit.

Austin’s work appears in the third edition of Information Architecture for the World Wide Web (the Polar Bear book) and The User Experience Team of One. Austin’s writing has appeared in ASIS&T’s Bulletin and Boxes and Arrows, and he has spoken on design and collaboration at SXSW Interactive, Agile, UXLx, Big Design, I.A. Summit, I.A. Conference, Intranet Week, Microsoft Collaboration Conference and other conferences and local meetings for lean, agile, and design audiences in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Montreal, Baltimore, Boston, Memphis, Lisbon, Nashville, Miami, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia.
